Raiders of the lost Ark mis en scene

The Raiders Of The Lost Ark starring Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones was made by Steven Spielberg in 1981.The first thing you hear is the sound the  sound is non-diegetic and runs through for the first few minitues. There is not much dialogue  which may suggest that sound is more important. The music along with sound effects of the jungle makes a tense feeling. The music is faster nwhen jones is being chased this is to build up tension. The costume that he rsis wearing is cow boy like this may appeal to rugged tradistionalist as they like action packed movies and what more action packed then a cow boy movie? This is also to do with the time the movie was made it was made in 1981 where the film craze was cowboys.

newspaper daily mail

Intended Audience

The Gender of the target audience would be targeted at  are  females who are intrested in stories about negative things such as pedeophiles and child abduction. This would be the  target audience becauseThe daily mail  as this newspaper is normally very negative.the reader would be a english person as they dont like people of any culture and dont like immigrants.Someone who is not very well educated as it is not very factual and normally the things written in the newspaper are wrong.

Founding Ideas

The Daily Mail is a conservative, British daily middle-market tabloid  newspaper owned by the Daily Mail and General Trust.
First published in 1896 by Lord Northcliffe, it is the United Kingdom's second biggest-selling daily newspaper after The Sun. Its sister paper The Mail on Sunday was launched in 1982. Scottish and Irish editions of the daily paper were launched in 1947 and 2006 respectively. The Daily Mail was Britain's first daily newspaper aimed at the newly literate "lower-middle class market resulting from mass education, combining a low retail price with plenty of competitions, prizes and promotional gimmicks",and the first British paper to sell a million copies a day.
It was, from the outset, a newspaper for women, being the first to provide features especially for them, and is the only British newspaper whose readership is more than 50 percent female, at 53 percent. The Daily Mail has had substantial and controversial political positions over its history, including accusations of warmongering before World War I. Lord Rothermere and Lord Beaverbrook were instrumental in launching the United Empire Party in 1929 which sought a British Empire trading bloc. Rothermere was sympathetic to the fascist movement in the UK until 1934, when the British Union of Fascists held a rally where violence occurred.

Current news values- how has the daily mail changed?

The news values havent really changed over the years as they are still hold the same news values.

Negativity- This newspaper still uses very negative storys their normal stories are offten about immagration and child abduction.

Closeness to home- This is because the stories that are published are allways in britain.

Currency-The  stories in this newspaper are always current and have allways been but sometimes they like to drag a story on for ages.

Moral panic-this newspaper likes to cause moral panic by telling people about things that give you cancer and about child abduction they like to over exagerate to make people panic.

Ownership-

Daily Mail and General Trust plc is a British media conglomerate, one of the largest in Europe. In the UK, it has interests in national and regional newspapers television and radio. The company has extensive activities based outside the UK.

Associated Newspapers is a national newspaper publisher in the UK. It is a subsidiary of the Daily Mail and General Trust. The group was established in 1905 and is currently based at Northcliffe House in Kensington. It takes responsibility for Harmsworth Quays the London Docklands print works plant at which it produces all of its London, South of England and South Wales editions of the national titles.
It publishes two major paid-for national newspaper titles as well as a free nationally available newspaper.

 Typical story

The typical story of the daily mail is about something negative such as
3,000 doctors putting patients on 'death lists' that single them out to be allowed to die.
this is a typical story for the daily mail this may cause moral panic and fits in with their newsvalues too.

halloween review

Halloween is a really good slasher movie it contains all the elements of a slaher movie. It starts off when a young micheal kills his big sister and her boyfriend and then goes on to 15 years later when micheal has escaped from a mental institution. No one knows what micheals going to do except  Dr. Loomis. He knows Michael is coming back to the scene of his first killing.

I realy like this movie because it was very scary the way his white mask is and the way he doesnt talk or even show any emotion even while he is killing his elder sister. He shows some emotion as when he kills the elder sister he takes the younger sibbling who is a baby out side with him instead of killing her so may be he aint that heart less after all.

micheal allways carries around this massive kitchen knife which just looks scary this adds to the embience.
The movie is a bit rude for me because it has alot of making out in it and has naked women in it too which is just normal horor but it isnt for me apart from that the movie was really good and i enjoyed it

sub genres of horror

Slasher
Examples:Halloween,
Halloween is a classic film. If all the slasher movies that have ever  been seen there are several characteristics which could be found in them all.
The first being the film either takes place in a small town, or a suburb of a larger city. This is also a factor which makes the films appeal. Small towns and suburbs are thought of as being far from the dangers associated with the city. These places are where people come to raise family’s in a good environment and the films bring terror to these so called nesting grounds. This makes the film appealing to the everyday teen. Usually that teen lives in a suburb or small town making them identify with the subjects in the film. Also the whole basis of horror genre is making the impossibly frightening possible. This is done by centering a story around a normal group of friends in a normal  town, and then having this normal setting rocked by some type of monster.
Second there is the idea of this “final girl”. Usually a female is the main character of the story. Usually her attacker is a serial killer/rapist who attacks a long line of females until he comes across out main character who somehow finds the will and strength and ingenuity to get away from her attacker unlike her friends.
the arguments that women in slasher films are depicted as powerful and cunning and able to compete with their male there is a lot of work and criticism that argues the opposite. Many would argue that throughout slasher films women are there for the benefit of the male. Women are shot in ways that demean them. For example the camera shot angles down on them, there are always sexual references made between the killer and their victims and that the male gets his pleasure through the punishment of women. Considering most of these films throughout show several female bodies stalked, attacked, and then mutilated.

advert comparison

Denotations of Chanel advert

  • There is a woman posing with a skinny waist and in a lovely long  dress
    • The woman is on a train looking out of the window.
    • The women is very thin
    • she looks like she has a lot of money
Connotations of Chanel advert
  • Showing off her dress and her figure to promote Chanel No5 perfume
  • She is in the train by herself as this could be pointing out that she is rich and can maybe afford to travel in the train by herself.
  • She looks wealthy, which tells us that the perfume  is expensive
  • she is very thin so it makes people think that if they use the perfume they will be like her

  • Denotations of Nina Ricci advert
    • Branches are made of crystals
    • White background, wearing a white gown
    • Red apples in the background

    Connotations of Nina Ricci advert
    • The white background and the dress she is wearing shows the inocence of the woman and can show purity as she is meant to be snow white and she is from a childrens fairy tale so she is supposed top be the innconent pure victim.
    • The shape of the perfume bottle has the same shape as the red apples in the background this is related to snow white as in snow white she eats the poisionous apple it is just as if the apple is there to tempt her.
    • The crystal branches make a a fairy tale garden this advert is based on snow white which is a fairy tale so it has to be fairy tale like hence the crystal branches.

    ted review

A man wrestles with the lingering consequences of a childhood wish in this live-action comedy from Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane. As a young boy, John Bennett wanted nothing more than for his beloved teddy bear Ted to come to life. Incredibly, that wish was granted. But now that John Mark Wahlberg is all grown up, his boyhood dream has become a nightmare nuisance. Mila Kunis, Joel McHale, and Giovanni Ribisii co-star. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Ted is a teddy bear. He was given to young John Bennett for Christmas when Bennett was nine years old. Bennett made a wish, as nine year olds are wont to do, a passing star happened to fall from the sky at just the right moment, and Ted came to life. Fast forward 26 years, and wee John has grown up to be Mark Wahlberg.

He works as an office schlub at a rental car company, spends his free time stoned on the couch watching Flash Gordon, and is improbably in a four year relationship with smart, successful, and drop dead beautiful Mila Kunis. And right there with them is Ted, a bit battered and in serious need of a dry-clean, but still a walking, talking, and very much alive teddy-bear.

The movie is good for the first 10 minitues when they show the charecter John as a little boy but then when they show him when he is grown up and he still has a talking teddy bear its just soo unrealistic.Ted is a "teddy bear" who can apparently talk and even drive a car magically he can even work and take cocaine.

Mila kunis plays the part of Johns girlfriend who is fed up of John and Teds childish ways and makes John chose between her and ted as a result of this John choses his girlfriend. She bans John from seeing Ted but as they are best friends they can not be stopped from seeing each other and Ted gets John into more trouble and then Johns girlfriend leaves him.

Then Ted is kidnapped by some weird man and his son who are in love with Ted.Then the game is on for John to win his girlfriend back and save Ted.
At the end John manages to win back his girlfriend and save Ted but as he gets ripped  he turns back into a teddy and this time Johns girlfriend  makes a wish to turn Ted back to being alive and guese what he does the end.
